Meet Aubree
Aubree is a yoga and mindfulness instructor specializing in yoga for trauma and mental health. She spent 6 years teaching youth in 16+ different schools and juvenile detention centers around the bay area. In these settings, Aubree has dedicated her time to educate students, teachers, social workers, counselors and staff on the effects of stress on our brains, bodies and behaviors. Aubree has started programs in high schools holding “Mindfulness for Mental Health” groups where students living with trauma, ptsd, anxiety, depression and the on-going stresses of life would come to her class to learn self care practices. These classes gained so much popularity from students that she was asked to hold “Mindfulness Counseling” sessions for students wishing to learn more in a 1:1 setting. Aubree has also worked 1:1 and held groups for adults living with the same stressors and mental health issues in Private Somatic Yoga Therapy sessions. Through trauma-informed mindfulness, yoga, art and explorative games, she guides people through healing practices. Even in her public yoga classes, she uses her knowledge on the science and philosophy of yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qigong, somatic healing, and neuroscience to influence how she teaches. The goal of Aubree’s work is to help people:
Learn the effects of stress and trauma on our brains bodies and behaviors
Identify different stressors as a society & individually
Lean self regulation skills like
Stress management
Emotional Intelligence
Self awareness/confidence
Self empowerment
Build empathy
Build healthy habbits
Learn how to have healthy relationsips with ourselvevs and others
Aubree is interested in the ways in which yoga is an invitation to embodied awareness and mental freedom. She believes that if we can understand the way our minds work— learned behaviors, thought patterns, habits, triggers and how our bodies hold onto our stories, then we can actively rewrite and rewire these for positive healthy change. Through yoga, mindfulness, and art, Aubree has begun to understand herself, face her shadows to move towards healing and transformation.
Having struggled with mental health issues most of her life, she is passionate about offering practices to people who wish to “do the work” and face themselves so they can step into their light and pay if forward.
All of Aubree’s offerings are meant for anyone who wants to practice. All bodies, all ages, all experience levels, all people. If you have ever felt intimidated by a yoga class either in a gym or a studio but want to receive all the benefits, then Aubree’s class is for you. She teaches intentionally for all levels to move at their own pace with permission to find what feels good and the choice to opt out of what doesn’t. She believes that there are few things in life that are a one size fits all, so instead of getting discouraged about what our body doesn’t want to do in the moment, find what it does. Aubree comes from the belief that we have to constantly keep meeting ourselves where we are without over shaming or judging ourselves. She uses her knowledge of trauma-informed mindfulness and yoga for mental health to influence the way she teaches. Each class is meant to give room for playfulness, exploration and the hope to feel even just a little bit better in our heads, hearts and bodies.
Aubree has completed trainings with Yoga Tree, Purusha Yoga School, Niroga Institute, Art of Yoga Project, Prison Yoga Project , The Embody Lab, and more. Aubree currently teaches weekly in-person mindful yoga classes, offers 1:1 coaching and group private classes, different donation-based pop-ups each month and welcomes independent contracting.
Aubree has a BA in Creative Writing from SFSU which lends itself to her excitement towards story telling, creative expression and connection to the human experience.
